NOTE ON VST PLUG-INS

Aodix is a very stable VST host. However, before you begin working on a project in Aodix, it is recommended that you test your VST Plug-ins so you don't risk losing your work:

- some plug-ins will crash Aodix immediately
- some plug-ins will work fine, but will make the whole
project crash when you load the project next time
- some plug-ins will not save program settings for programs
with index number other than 00.

This is due to bad coding of the plug-in, or ambiguity in the VST official specifications.

So, to test the plug-ins, create a dummy project with the plug-ins to test inside, and chose a program superior to 00 if the plug-in allows it, then tweak the knobs of the plug-ins.
Save the project. Re-open the project.
You'll know whether a plug-in is faulty (Aodix crash), or doesn't keep program parameters in program slot superior to 00 when used in Aodix.

FAQ

I have installed the new version of Aodix, and when I open it, it crashes immediately : you need to browse to the installation folder, and delete the configuration file (.cfg).

I get no audio : check that your ASIO drivers are installed, and that the ASIO subsystem is properly running. If your soundcard manufacturer does not provide you with ASIO drivers, use an ASIO/WDM/MME wrapper (such as asio4all).

Still no audio : check if there is no other Aodix open, or any other software running the same ASIO drivers.

Aodix ignores my midi keyboard : check that your keyboard is properly connected, and that no there software is currently using the midi keyboard.

I record notes in offline mode, and they appear as lines (even if in zoomed view) : check the "quantize" and "pre-release" values. In most cases, you should have "Step" engaged, and "pre-release" should be less than "quantize".

Scrolling patterns with mouse-wheel is very slow : you are probably using the free "quantize" setting, and this is a normal behaviour for this setting. You may find it more comfortable to set "quantize" to 16th, or any value other than "free".

How to convert Aodix raw output to other formats :
Aodix output format is RAW 32-bit Float IEEE file. 1 channel or multichannel depending on how you asked Aodix to render the output. This format is the most accurate to keep the quality of the processed audio data. To convert this format to another format, you may use Audacity:
- chose "Import RAW data..." from the project menu
- In the pop-up window, select
     . 32-Bit Float
     . No Endianness
. The number of channels according to the setup in Aodix
     . Start Offset = 0
     . Amount to import = 100%
. Sampling rate = the sampling rate of the setup in Aodix

This allows you to import the RAW file in Audacity. Now set the project rate in the small box at the bottom-Left corner of the window according to the sampling rate of the imported file. You may now export the file as WAV from the "File > export as WAV" menu.
